On Wednesday, Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft and
generous donor, went to the Maa Mangla Basti in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Tuesday
night, Gates landed in the city of Odisha.
Gates has multiple events planned for Wednesday, one of which is centered on the application of artificial intelligence for farmers.

According to officials, the co-founder of Microsoft will meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his visit and attend other events pertaining to the “Jaga Mission” (a plan for slum rehabilitation), the “Mukta” scheme (which provides localized employment prospects for the urban poor), and “Mission Shakti.”
The Odisha government stated that it has been working with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation since 2017 to promote innovation in data-driven decision-making through the Department of Agriculture and Department of Fisheries and the Animal Resource Department work together to give farmers more power.
In his blog post titled “Gate Notes,” Gates had
previously announced on February 25 that he would be visiting an Odisha
low-income neighborhood where a government initiative is assisting women in
acquiring the skills necessary to complete government building projects. “
“Since 2018, this initiative has assisted 22,000 female groups in
completing over 52,000 projects, such as constructing roads, sewers, and
restrooms,” the writer said.
During his visit, Gates expressed his love for India’s inventive spirit and stated that he will witness the country’s digital public infrastructure, or DPI, in operation.

Officials can keep track of who is cultivating what (and, consequently, what kind of farming assistance they require) by using the registry of 7.5 million farmers—even those who do not own land—maintained by this center thanks to Aadhaar. Using AI to customize content to each farmer’s specific needs and in their native tongue, the company has also created a chatbot that makes it simple for farmers to obtain the most recent information about their crops,” he added.

Gates said he will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India to discuss how the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation can help India with its ideas.
