With the planned February 26 introduction of the OnePlus Watch 2, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, OnePlus is returning to the smartwatch scene.
After considering customer input regarding the first OnePlus Watch, the firm claims to have started over from scratch. One of the main priorities was battery life; in “Smart Mode,” the Watch 2 may last up to 100 hours between charges.
Two stylish colors, Black Steel and Radiant Steel, will be available for the Watch 2. As a true flagship smartwatch that personifies “understated luxury,” OnePlus is marketing this device.
However, there are other areas being improved in addition to battery life.
With a sapphire crystal display and a stainless steel body, OnePlus is
promoting a high-end design that should be very scratch-resistant. It is
modeled around the OnePlus 12 phone series’ rounded watch face curves.
Prior rumors said that the OnePlus Watch 2 would include a 1.43-inch AMOLED screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 CPU, and WearOS 3 or WearOS 4. Compared to the first OnePlus Watch, which had a proprietary operating system, this is a significant improvement.
With the release of this watch, OnePlus is stepping up its efforts to create a full ecosystem of high-end gadgets. The OnePlus Pad tablet and OnePlus Buds Pro 2 headphones were released in 2023. The OnePlus Open foldable phone was unveiled as their final product. And the flagship OnePlus 12 series was released to start out 2024.
“The OnePlus Watch 2 has returned after a three-year break and a contemplative period after the release of the Watch 1, and we are more optimistic than ever about this product. This optimism is not misplaced; rather, it is based on significant improvements in our technology capabilities and ecology. Watch 2 demonstrates our resolve to change from being a “Flagship Killer” to a “Ecosystem Builder.” You will gain experience from it that is not only enhanced but completely changed. said OnePlus President and COO Kinder Liu.
